The Australian Karen Foundation,
established in 2006.
Aim and Purposes
The aim of the Foundation is to achieve better outcomes for the Karen
people in Thailand, Burma and in Australia.
The purposes for which the Foundation is established are:
(1) To provide assistance and support, for educational, vocational, medical
or other programmes for Karen refugees and displaced persons on the Thai-Burma
Border and within Burma
(2) To provide assistance and support in preparing refugees and displaced
persons for their return to their homeland.
(3) To provide assistance and support for Karen people accepted for resettlement in
Australia
(4) To provide a forum and voice for educating the wider community on
the plight of the Karen people.
(5) To engage, where considered appropriate by the Committee, with other
Burmese ethnic groups.
President of the Committee is the Rev’d Ron Browning.
The Committee comprises of three Australians
and four Karen representatives. |
